Question: Do you offer overnight pet sitting services?
Answer: At this time I do not stay overnight in a client's home.

Question: The other day I saw a sign on the side of a van advertising a pet sitting service. I see that you don't have a sign on your car advertising your service. Is there a reason why? It seems like it would be great advertising for you!
Answer: While it would be excellent advertising for me, you will never see a sign or even a personalized license plate (that indicates my profession) on my car. The reason is that the security of the client's home is of the utmost importance to me. I try to make the home look lived in, not advertise the fact that the home owner is away and that someone from a pet sitting service is making visits. Sometimes I even change cars, so it looks like the client has a lot of company going in and out! If it means that I lose out on some free advertising, that's fine. The security of the client's home is more important.

Question: Do you prefer to keep my key on file or use the garage code each time?
Answer: Most of my clients have me keep a key on file. The keys are kept in a locked box when not in use and are labeled with the name of the pet. For home security reasons they are never labeled with an address, so they cannot be traced back to the home. I prefer not to rely on a garage door opener because they have been known to not work in the event of a power failure. Also, it is best to lock the door between the garage and the house, for security reasons, so a key is really preferred.

Question: Is your company licensed?
Answer: There is no licensing available at this time for pet sitters, so it's not possible to be licensed. I am bonded and insured, though.

Question: What are some important items to leave out for you when you make your pet sitting visits?
Answer: It is really helpful if the client remembers to leave carpet cleaner and towels for me. Also, I often need a broom and a dustpan. (I can usually find a broom, but 70% of the time there is no dustpan.) Extra instructions are also helpful.
